Jaqkodí Sustainability Series The Sewing Workshop Experience The Skill (s) Workshop. We invite you into the Jaqkodí studio for a focused, small-group session dedicated to the technical foundations of garment making. Designed as a progression from our introductory sewing experience, this workshop offers a deeper exploration of sewing machinery, construction techniques, and garment finishing methods. Hosted within an intimate atelier setting and guided by RCA fashion designer Lois Sarkodie, the session creates space to slow down and engage closely with the discipline of making. Through demonstration and guided practice, participants will develop a clearer understanding of how garments are constructed and refined. This is not simply a class, but a continuation of the learning process: building technical awareness, precision, and respect for the craft behind clothing. What You Will Learn This session focuses on the core mechanical and construction skills that underpin garment making: • Understanding dometic / industrial sewing machines and overlockers• Working with different presser feet and their applications (zipper / free hand embroidery, button holes)• Constructing foundational seams including plain seams and French seams• Exploring hem techniques including rolled hems and overlocked hems• Learning garment finishing techniques including zip insertion, buttons, press studs, hook and eye, and velcro. What Is Included All materials and equipment are provided: • Access to domestic / industrial sewing machines and an overlocker• Fabric for technical practice samples• Professional sewing tools and equipment• Personal guidance throughout the session• Curated drinks and light refreshments You Will Leave With • A series of technical sewing samples created during the session• A deeper understanding of sewing machinery and garment construction• The JAQKODÍ Sewing 101 digital guide• A strengthened technical foundation to continue developing your sewing practice Please note: Tickets are non-refundable but transferable to same-priced workshops if requested 72 hours prior to the start time.
