Under the alias Alva Noto, German artist Carsten Nicolai has become one of the key figures of contemporary electronic and audiovisual art. Working across sound, installation, and digital media, Nicolai explores mathematical structures, codes, randomness, and self-organising systems through minimal electronic composition and visual abstraction. His performances merge precision, physical sound, and immersive light environments, continuing a practice developed across collaborations with artists including Ryūichi Sakamoto, Blixa Bargeld, and Ryoji Ikeda. The first live collaboration between Polish saxophonist and electronic artist Jerzy Mączyński and Indonesian experimental composer and instrument builder J. “MO’ONG” Santoso Pribadi merges raw acoustic material, custom-built instruments, electronics, and audiovisual composition. Accompanied by visuals from Katarzyna Dębska, the performance unfolds as an immersive dialogue between distorted digital textures and organic sonic detail, creating a fragile, dreamlike, and highly physical audiovisual environment.
