PUNCHBAG UNIVERSITY TOUR Presents: VILLANELLE: Emerging from London’s underground, VILLANELLE have quickly built a name beyond word-of-mouth buzz. In months, they’ve gone from sweaty pub gigs to arena crowds as the opening act of Liam Gallagher’s Definitely Maybe: 30 Years Tour. Formed in 2024, the band, Gene (vocals/guitar), Ben Taylor (guitar) and Jack Schiavo (bass) have shared stages with Seb Lowe, Overpass, and Pastel. Having sold-out pre-sale for their upcoming December Tour Magical Mallard Migration, the band are taking to the university scene to shake up student nightlife and bring back rock and roll. Florentenes: Florentenes are in a rush. With youth on their side and an immediately recognisable sound that could soundtrack a generation, the Bolton-based band match the eloquent urgency of early Arctic Monkeys with the swagger of The Strokes and The Who. They have the songs and the attitude to sell out venues across the country to fans hungry for grit, guitars and groove. The band from The North are the latest youth-quake, with spectacular virtuosity and spectacular musicality. Recent supports with Jamie Webster, The Royston Club and upcoming support for The Wombats tells you where they are headed: to the top. Tongue: Tongue is a student band from Oxford. Waist deep in the local music scene, these often silly slacker rock slash punk music enthusiasts are charming audiences and winning hearts as a tried and tested support band. They’ve been on the bill of a number of raucous Jericho Tavern sell-outs and packed Common Ground for their album launch. Drawing from the likes of Parquet Courts, Pavement, Personal Trainer and Talking Heads, Tongue’s self-titled debut album effort has been handed around on bootlegs of bootlegs, with bedroom burned CDs and album covers fresh from the university’s printers. There’s another album coming. What a hoot.
