On July 15, 2023, 29 Speedway hosted Quantum Piñata: A Deranged Talent Show of Doom at Pioneer Works. The evening featured a circus of styles all unified through shared D.I.Y. origins. Her sounds oscillate between moments of restraint and swells of frenetic and confrontational movement. Eschewing conventions in harmony and rhythm in favor of extreme textures and gestural tones, Shen uses what she calls ‘chaotic sound’ to oppose signal and information, eluding traditionally embedded meaning.
