It’s increasingly rare these days for an artist from the 80s to still have their master tapes but even rarer still for them to have the multitrack tapes. Original studio tapes are now the holy grail when it comes to licensing old music so when you’re fortunate enough to dig them up the opportunity to remix and create new versions cannot be ignored. Let The Moonshine In is one of these holy grails, a song that has laid untouched since its 1984 release. The original vinyl was a ghost to many collectors, a record that easily commanded hundreds of pounds if you could find a copy. For us, the song first appeared on last years Everything You’re About To Hear Is True Volume 1 compiled by our good friends at the Rotation Garden Party. After an extensive search across Europe we finally found the original writer and producer Ms Jean-Marie Gogniat in rural Switzerland living somewhat oblivious to the demand for his 80s masterpiece yet still in possession of all his master tapes!
